Meet Our Team

As the founding director of Tom & Co Legal, Tom is committed to compassionate, effective representation. He was the recipient of the 2023 Western Australian Lawyer of the Year award by the Law Society of Western Australia and received the Asian Australian Lawyers Association (AALA) Western Australia Branch Award 2022 for Leadership and Diversity.

Tom acts for private clients in the Family Court of Western Australia in both parenting and property matters. His parenting work covers arrangements for children after separation, relocation, and cases in which family violence or risk to a child is an issue. In property and financial matters he acts in complex disputes involving family businesses, trusts and corporate structures, self-managed superannuation, competing third-party interests, valuation questions and allegations of non-disclosure.

Tom also accepts appointment as an Independent Children's Lawyer (ICL). Appointed by the Court under the Family Law Act 1975 (Cth) and the Family Court Act 1997 (WA), an ICL represents a child's best interests independently of either parent by gathering the evidence the Court needs, arranging expert and family reports, and putting an impartial view of the child's welfare before the Court.

Tom acts in NDIS and disability matters, representing participants and their families in internal reviews by the National Disability Insurance Agency, external review in the Administrative Review Tribunal, and appeals to the Federal Court on questions of law. Because these reviews turn on the evidence, he works closely with treating doctors and allied health practitioners to obtain reports that address the statutory criteria directly. He also acts for NDIS providers on registration and compliance.

Tom holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Notre Dame Australia and is fluent in English, Thai and Khmer, allowing him to act for clients across Perth's multicultural communities in their own language.

Tom & Co Legal is a disability-led practice. Tom has lived experience as a person with disability and understands the complexity and strain of going through a difficult period. He draws on his own experience of working through adversity to support clients going through the same, and that experience underpins the firm's commitment to accessibility and inclusion in legal services.

Beyond his legal work, Tom holds a number of board appointments. He is Board Chair of DADAA (Disability in the Arts, Disadvantage in the Arts) and Chair of Avivo, and serves on the Metropolitan Cemeteries Board, continuing his advocacy for people with disabilities and public service. His practice spans family law, NDIS and administrative law, guardianship and administration, disability discrimination, and criminal law.

Aashini is an Associate at Tom & Co Legal. She works across family law, criminal law, guardianship and administration matters in the State Administrative Tribunal, and contested estate litigation, including family provision claims.

Most of her clients come to her at a hard point: a separation, a criminal charge, a dispute over a deceased estate, or a decision about a relative who can no longer manage their own affairs. Aashini is practical, explains people's options in plain terms, and is straightforward to deal with.

She studied criminology and criminal justice at the University of New South Wales, then completed her law degree at Australian Catholic University, where she twice received the ACU Academic Excellence Scholarship. At university she was involved in the Mackillop Law Students Society and was Treasurer of the Mackillop Campus Student Association. Aashini was admitted to practise in the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2023, began her career at Legal Aid NSW in the Mental Health Advocacy Service acting for clients in mental health matters, and has practised in Western Australia since 2024. She was admitted to the High Court of Australia in 2025.

Aashini speaks English, Gujarati and Hindi, and acts for clients from across Perth's many communities. Her guardianship and administration work usually means helping a family make decisions for someone who has lost capacity, including decisions about their health, care or finances. In estate disputes she acts for people contesting or defending a will, including family provision claims brought by those left without adequate provision. Her background in criminology also gives her a good feel for matters where family law and criminal law overlap.

Outside her practice, Aashini sits on the Elder Law and Succession Committee of the Law Society of Western Australia.

Jane joined Tom & Co Legal with a genuine commitment to compassionate, client-centred legal services. Her pathway to law was shaped by over a decade of frontline statutory work in child protection, community corrections, and disability coordination across regional and remote Western Australia.

She holds a Bachelor of Laws (with Distinction) and was admitted to practise in the Supreme Court of Western Australia in March 2026. Her legal experience spans family law, family violence, wills and estates, and criminal law. Jane is meticulous in her analysis, yet able to deliver clear, practical advice without unnecessary delay.

Jane has a strong connection to Aboriginal communities, having lived and worked in Kununurra for nine years, and continues to support Aboriginal youth through her volunteer coaching with Basketball WA.

Outside of work, Jane enjoys spending time with her family, coaching basketball, equestrian eventing, and amateur boxing.

Drishti brings extensive legal qualifications and international experience to her role as Senior Paralegal. She holds a BA Economics (Honours) from Delhi University, followed by an LLB from Campus Law Centre, Delhi University (2016), and an LLM from the University of Cambridge (2017).

Currently completing the Legal Profession Admission Board (LPAB) requirements in New South Wales, Drishti is working towards becoming a dual-qualified lawyer across jurisdictions. Fluent in English and Hindi, she provides invaluable support to our legal team.

Her combination of academic excellence, international legal education, and practical experience ensures that every matter is handled with meticulous attention to detail. Drishti's expertise in legal research, document preparation, and case management contributes significantly to successful client outcomes.

Sarah supports our legal team with research, documentation, and client communication, contributing to the smooth operation of our practice. Her thoroughness and dedication ensure high-quality service delivery.

Claudia assists with case preparation and administrative support, ensuring clients receive efficient and professional service. Her attention to detail and client-focused approach enhance our team's effectiveness.
